
Eschenmoser’s salt, on treatment with suitable bases, may produce = N+(Me)CH2-. If so, it will undergo 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions, in situ, with olefins.
May we further propose reaction of N-cyclohexyl alpha-chloro propionaldehydo nitrone with methyl cyclohexene and (C6H6)2AgBF4 (Fluka, Buchs) at lower temperatures.
Finally, N-cyclohexyl and N-tert, butyl nitrones of acetaldehyde may be very useful in organic syntheses.
